What is a quinsy?
A quinsy is a collection of pus that forms next to the tonsil, usually as a complication of tonsillitis. It typically causes pain on one side of the throat and can make it very difficult to open the mouth fully.
What is the treatment for a quinsy?
Treatment involves a course of antibiotics along with drainage of the collection of pus. If quinsy occurs more than once, removal of the tonsils (tonsillectomy) is usually recommended.
